Hi all! It's been pointed out to me that I don't have a handout for this lesson. Apparently, I started making handouts at lesson 13 of Manual 1. So, I'm going to try my very best to bridge that gap.

Brag Book for Young Women Handouts

I've been thinking about placing the YW handouts in a 4x6 brag book. I wanted one that could hold an entire manual's worth of handouts. Unfortunately, it looks like the BB's we know of only hold 30-40 pictures. Bummer, that wasn't enough. Then, yesterday at Wal-Mart I came across this one pictured above, "Best Occasions Photo Album, holds 100 4x6 photos." It was only $3.00. I figured I could fit two years worth in there, or still one per manual since the girls rotate the same manual twice they would have room for more memorabilia all throughout YW. This one looks to be distributed only by Wal-Mart stores, so I looked online for a similar product and found one at Memory Scrap Books. This one comes in few different colors and styles - other than plain black/brown/blue found at wallyworld. Either way - it's a great find and a great way for YW to retain their 4x6 handouts - or fold other keepsakes to keep them altogether. :)

The Young Women Manual 1 Lesson 46 is about the Purpose and Value of Education. I have so many school-themed digital elements I collected from The Blog Train's August Back-To-School collection that I couldn't help but use a variety of those to make this handout. A veteran home-school mom myself, my eye loves any school related fun stuff.

The Young Women Manual 1 Lesson 45 is on The Value of Work.

I made this handout from scratch. It may not have all the color and flowers and frills that many of my previous handouts have, but I'll get them there through time. I followed a tutorial on making rocks, which I'm thrilled I was able to duplicate, and incorporated words taken from the lesson to "engrave" onto the rocks. Using both Illustrator and Photoshop, I made a handout all by myself. :) Yeah! I hope you like it!

The Young Women Manual 1 Lesson 44 is Using Time Wisely. I played around in Illustrator making this one from scratch. My version is very clear, but for some reason the words on these copies are not. I'm not sure why. Hopefully, they are still good to use.

The Young Women Manual 1 Lesson 43 is about Righteous Living. This is my first handout I made using Photoshop. Although I used another designers work, see reference below, I had to use the layers and photoshop techniques to arrange the elements, make the text boxes, and use gradients, noise, and shadows. It was a lot of fun.

I would like to thank blog chez zaza for her scrap kit, "All A Girl Needs" offered on May 26, 2009 for most of this handout. The boy watching TV came from an lds clipart CD I had purchased in an LDS bookstore. The headphones and musical notes are from a kit called World of Music, where again I do not know who is the designer. If you do, then let me know and I'll give proper credit.

Worthy Thoughts

Okay, I'm having way too much fun, now! I came across this idea during my research for the Young Women Manual 1 Lesson 34 on Worthy Thoughts for a monopoly and Young Womenopoly and it had my mental wheels turning and turning and I couldn't wait to do something with the idea. Many, many years ago I had made a monopoly themed Christmas family newsletter. In the spaces I had put things about our family from that year. Because I didn't have a color printer, yet - in fact, I don't think they were even a common household item at that time - I hand-colored 100 family newsletters that year.

So, now here is a YW themed monopoly handout! I've included a few extras, like a Monopoly Template, a square version of the YW monopoly board, in case you would like to use it someone during your lesson, and the Young Womenopoly handout. ENJOY!

I made the board game in Publisher, I used a scanned copy of a scrapbooking page I had purchased years ago - probably at Hobby Lobby, to make the background behind the quotes, and I used a program called "MyTypeArtist" to make the heading "Young Womenopolgy," which I later noticed has all of the YW value colors, not counting white and if you consider the pink to represent the purple. LOL! The clipart I have from clipart CD's I purchased years ago at an LDS bookstore, except the Earth and the Outer Darkness I found online at About.com. - Which I only used Outer Darkness to represent going to jail, but didn't use anything else negative because I wanted the whole idea to be more positive. :)

Personal Purity through Self-discipline

The Young Women Manual 1 Lesson 32 is on Personal Purity through Self-discipline. I had a little fun with this one, too. I had to delete a bunch of fun elements for driving because I was filling up the handout with all of them. It didn't look right. So, I had to choose a select few :(... I think it turned out okay. I used the idea from sugardoodle - A Journey of a 1000 Miles, with regard to the references to the street signs.

I used Hit The Road by Wild Dandelions for most of the handout. The street sign was called "SDS_WhyDontWe_StreetSign," but I can't figure out the designer. If you know, please share. :)One other element came from Ramona's Wish You Were Here blogtrain contribution. It's the sign blended into the yellow space to fill a gap.

Group Activities - A Basis For Wise Dating

The Young Women Manual 1 Lesson 31 is Group Activities - A Basis For Wise Dating.

I made this handout to be printed back to back. There are two per page because there is so much going on I didn't want it all to get lost in the smaller postcard size. The back side has 100 ideas for group activities. I had fun using different fonts to make it connect with the individual idea. I restrained myself from connecting each and every item with it's relative font :) I hope you like this one. I think it would be neat to do EVERYTHING on the list.

If you see any adjustments that I should make to this handout, please let me know. Sometimes after printing, some handouts look like some things should be changed to make it more clear.

I'm not sure who the designer of the background and the sport elements are. The file hasn't even been organized yet. It is still as I had unzipped it and all it says is Sports. There is no TOU at all. So, if you know who is the designer, I would love to give them credit.
