Sorry about the delay for the next quote card. For the past three weeks I have been learning to do spray paint art. This week I finally made one that I can be proud of. There are still some imperfections, but they will be worked out with more practice. I thought I would share with you this piece. What do you think!?

One of my favorite type of quotes I love to collect are on adversity. It seems I can never have enough great quotes to remind me about being uplifted during times of adversity. So, today's card is about just that, adversity and the hope the atonement of the Savior gives to us.

I made this one using a template by Fiddle-Dee Dee Designs Flower Power and Fresh Squeezed kit by Just So Scrappy.

Quote Card 24 (Angels and Priveleges) FREEBIE

I made this layout for another quote and then realized the area was way too small for a large quote. I was in love with the layout, so I saved it until I found one that would work and then put pictures of nice paintings in the picture spots instead of a quote. Hopefully I made the very best use of the space.

I do love this quote! It reminds me that when it may seem hard at times to make the right choice,  doing so will have resulting blessings. In this case a specific blessing - who couldn't use a few more angels as associates?! I believe some of those angels are in flesh and blood on earth with us. This has been happening for me even recently after having gone through a divorce. I have been blessed with the greatest of friends who I consider to be my personal angels. They don't even know it. Some of them are guys friends who would probably think I was weird if I told them they were one of my personal angels. They have blessed me with unconditional friendship and have, unknowingly, been teaching me how a man should treat a woman... with respect and kindness. This dose of emotional medication is exactly what the doctor ordered. I hope these people will remain my friends forever.

For the layout, I used the digital scrapbooking kit, Fresh Squeezed by Just So Scrappy  and cschneider-set122-pg2 by Cindy Schneider for the template.

For the images, I used Heavenly Hands and Gentle Healer by painter Greg Olsen.

Fall Festival Flyer FREEBIE

A few weeks ago I created this flyer for our upcoming youth dance. In addition to specifics, such as time and place, etc, I was asked to include church recommendations and standards for behavior so this would be a fall festival, rather than a scare fest with inappropriate costumes and behavior. I thought I would share the flyer with you - minus our details - so you can use it, too, if you can. I'm including two versions. One with some of the information we had provided and with none of the information we provided.

I used Connie Prince's digital scrapbooking kit, You're a Hoot and a template called sjend_oaly_temp1 (sorry, I cannot seem to find who in the world the designer was for this template. There is a complete set of 4 different owl templates and I don't keep the accompanied preview and TOU or my computer would be so much more ultimately full than it already is. So, the name of the file wasn't specific enough for me to re-find the designer. If you know who it is, feel free to let me know.)

I decided to start at the beginning of my collection of quote cards and share them in order. Number 23 was the first one I made myself instead of using a Journal Card made by another designer. I can't share those since they would be giving away their card. But, I can share the ones I made, so long as I give credit for the template and kit used.

Today's quote card I made using Spring-a-ling Freebie by Cinnamon Scraps. I did not use a template. The quote is from Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Of Things That Matter Most, October 2010 General Conference. Enjoy!

Quote Card 27 (Adversity) FREEBIE

I know, "Quote Card 27" really doesn't mean much, does it? For simplicity's sake, I named the cards as I saved them on my computer as numbers. This one is number 27. This one is a quote by Harold B. Lee that reminds us everyone meets adversity, but having the gospel in our life allows us to see past it and into a brighter, more eternal future. I found it in the D&C Lesson 28, "Oh God, Where Art Thou?"

Weapons of Mass Distraction FREEBIE

This past Saturday our stake had a Relief Society Women's Conference with the title 'Daughters of Majesty'.

"In the restored light of the gospel of Jesus Christ, a woman, ... occupies a majesty all her own in the divine design of the Creator." Jeffrey R. Holland.

We enjoyed inspiring keynote speakers, fabulous workshops and a very delicious lunch with a salad, sandwiches, and potato soup.

The workshop topics were:

1. Getting the Most out of Your Temple Service
2. Living up to Your Privilege - Growing in Service
3. No Matter What - Recognizing and Minimizing
4. In our Busy and Noisy World, How Do We Hear the Holy Ghost?
5. Understanding your Majesty - Understanding who we are and understanding God's Immeasurable Love for Us.
6. What does it mean to Reach our Spiritual Potential?

We were able to attend three of the six workshops, and the three I attended were numbers 2, 3, and 4.

Of course, the speakers were phenomenal and they provided us with many fabulous quotes I just had to record for myself to reference later. One speaker pointed out the quotes she had throughout the room and said, 'They told me I was a keynote speaker. These are my key notes.' LOL!

For the past many months I've been creating quote cards for myself, typically from the weekly Sunday School lessons, but fabulous quotes are everywhere! As I find a quote that means something to me, inspires me, or reminds me to hold strong during trying times, I create a quote card. I cannot keep up with all of the quotes I find, so I try to focus on those that speak to me during the trials I am facing right now.

I print a group of these quote cards at a local Walgreens for 19 cents each and place them into a 4x6 frame that I keep next to my computer monitor at work. I use a MCS Original Clear Acrylic Box Picture Frame for a 4x6" Photograph (I found here at Adorama) because it allows me to place multiple quote cards inside and then rotate them as I see fit. Also, it allows me the flexibility to create the cards in either landscape or portrait view.

So, I couldn't resist making quote cards for the Women's Conference. So far, I've made two and I am sharing them with you here today.

From the workshop, No Matter What - Recognizing and Minimizing, the speaker talked about using our time wisely and in the best ways. She shared an image of some nukes with logos of some of the popular social media's today. I recreated this and included another card with a related quote in the cards below. I created the nuke myself! .... okay, I did trace it from one I found online. I traced it in Illustrator and converted the layers to a Photoshop file. That was the first time I ever did that. So fun! I used the referenced digital kit below to color it.

Using a FB logo that looked like it was being torn out of paper, I recreated the same effect for the rest of the logos I used and put them on their own nuke. I thought I was so clever. I hope you like the final results.

Both of these cards were made using Ellie Lash Digital Scrapbooking Kit, Space.  I didn't use a template for the first card, but the second card is the result of combining and resizing two templates by WM[squared] Designs, Go Green - The Templates. Enjoy!
