Sorry this week's YW handout is late!!  I had done a bunch in advance because I had finals!! Well, they all ran out!! So, I will get back on track and get them done on time!! 
This weeks lesson is Lesson: 32 Service in the Community.

Elder L. Tom Perry said: “We have been blessed with the light of the gospel to lead us and to guide and direct our lives. Through our understanding and study of the scriptures, we have a knowledge of the laws of the Lord by which we should govern our earthly conduct. With this great blessing comes an obligation to be part of the communities in which we live. Our influence should be felt to safeguard the moral standards in the villages, in the towns, and in the cities where our homes are located in all parts of the world. I challenge you to become involved in lifting the moral standards of the communities where your homes are” (in Conference Report, Apr. 1977, p. 89; or Ensign, May 1977, p. 61).

July Visiting Teaching Handout: Come to the Temple and Claim Your Blessings

This months visiting teaching message is Come to the Temple and Claim Your Blessings.

The Prophet Joseph often spoke to Relief Society sisters at their meetings. With the Nauvoo Temple under construction, the Prophet instructed the sisters in doctrine, preparing them to receive more knowledge through temple ordinances. In 1842 he said to Mercy Fielding Thompson that the endowment “will bring you out of darkness into marvelous light.” 

An estimated 6,000 Latter-day Saints received temple ordinances before the exodus from Nauvoo. President Brigham Young (1801–77) said, “Such has been the anxiety manifested by the saints to receive the ordinances [of the temple], and such the anxiety on our part to administer to them, that I have given myself up entirely to the work of the Lord in the Temple night and day, not taking more than four hours sleep, upon an average, per day, and going home but once a week.” The strength and power of temple covenants fortified the Saints as they left their city and temple for a journey into the unknown.

Young Women Manual 3 Lesson 18: Temple Marriage

This weeks handout is for Lesson 18: Temple Marriage. This lesson really discusses the difference between a civil marriage and a Temple Marriage. In the lesson it discusses 5 questions that ask  the girls to think about the difference between the two types of marriages.
1. Where does the marriage take place?
2. Who will perform the marriage?
3. How long will the marriage last?
4. What will people be doing throughout eternity?
5. What will be the state of the family in eternity?
How important are the answers to these 5 questions!  Do you want to lose your family after this life?  Sometimes I think as young women they don't think about the difference between civil marriage and a temple marriage. I know growing up we were taught all about temple marriages and how important it was to be married in the temple but I really didn't understand the importance!
I cannot imagine living my life without my family.  Knowing that I can have them with me forever is one the greatest gifts that I have received from my Heavenly Father.
This handout has two great quotes from the lesson. Another resource that I love it the 7th paragraph of
"THE FAMILY: A PROCLAMATION TO THE WORLD" it states:
"The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed."

Young Women Manual 3 Lesson 13: The Priesthood Can Bless Families

This week's Young Women's handout goes with lesson 13: "The Priesthood Can Bless Families"

“There is no higher authority in matters relating to the family organization, and especially when that organization is presided over by one holding the higher priesthood, than that of the father. The authority is time honored, and among the people of God in all dispensations it has been highly respected and often emphasized by the teachings of the prophets who were inspired of God. The patriarchal order is of divine origin and will continue throughout time and eternity” (Joseph F. Smith, “The Rights of Fatherhood,” Juvenile Instructor, 1 Mar. 1902, p. 146).

In this weeks lesson it talks about how a daughter can support her father and help him realize how him holding the priesthood will bless their family. To let him know how much it means to her that he holds the priesthood and is worthy to bless their family and have those blessings that the priesthood brings to their home.

Young Women Manual 3 Lesson 11: Extended Family Relationships

This weeks freebie is for lesson 11 "Extended Family Relationships" This lesson talks about the importance of knowing our extended family our relatives.  Talking about them getting to know them and having relationships with them.
I am very thankful for my extended family. I love them all very much and have great relationships with them. Growing up I remember my cousin Kim was my best friend we did everything together!  I have very fond memories of our sleep overs, meeting boys, going to football games all the fun stuff teens do!  They are some of the wonderful memories I have of my youth! We have yearly family reunions so we can all catch up with each other it is the one time a year I look forward to camping!
I hope you can all take something from this lesson and know how much our Father in Heaven wants us to have relationships with our extended families that is why he give them to us!

Young Women Manual 3 Lesson 9: Encouraging Family Unity

This week's Young Women lesson is on Encouraging Family Unity. There are a few quotes that really stood out to me.

“May I suggest that we give more of ourselves. … It might be something as simple as smiling more in your home.

“What would you think of speaking more cheerfully? Trying more often to say please and thank you?

“What would you think of finding an opportunity for one sincere compliment for each [person] each day, and then watching them respond?

“What if you decided to be cheerful tonight at the dinner table, and in spite of what others might do or say, hold to your course. See how long you can uplift your whole family” (H. Burke Peterson, in Conference Report, Oct. 1972, pp. 148–49; or Ensign, Jan. 1973, p. 115).

As you go through this week in preparing your lesson think of things you can do to make your family a stronger family unit. I know one thing we need to do as family at my house is pray together as a family. Also, study the scriptures. I really think these things will help us grow more in unity.

Young Women Manual Lesson 8 Eternal Families

This weeks Young Woman's Freebie was made from the kit "Families are Forever". This weeks lesson focuses on "Eternal Families" In the lesson is this story.

Janet was in a dilemma. Tom had asked her to marry him. They had been dating for about a year and were very much in love. Janet had thought that the happiest day of her life would be when Tom asked her to be his wife. But the day had come and Janet felt unsettled. She hadn’t given him a definite answer but had told him that she would answer the next day. What was worrying her? Tom was an elder in the Church and had said that if she wanted to, they would be married in the temple. He hadn’t been able to hold a position in the Church for a while because of his work, but he had promised that he would change after they were married.

Janet remembered that her patriarchal blessing said something about the person she was to marry, so she got it out and began to read: “The time will come when your hand will be sought in marriage. I bid you pray earnestly that you may have wisdom to choose among those who seek your hand one who is worthy. By these tokens you will know the one whom the Lord would approve. He will be clean of body and mind. He will hold the holy priesthood and yearn to take you to the temple and there be sealed to him, and him to you for time and all eternity.” Janet knew that Tom did not meet all these requirements. She knew he was not one of whom the Lord would approve.

I think back to when I was dating just out of high school this guy and I had been dating off and on for 7 years. We would break up and then get back together months sometimes even years later. I always thought we would get married and live happily ever after! The last time we dated he knew how important the church was to me. He knew he wouldn't be able to take me to the temple and give me the life I wanted. He didn't want to hold the priesthood or even honor it. So we decided that we would break up yet again. At the time I had never thought of serving a mission and it had crossed my mind several times. I prayed and knew that was what my Heavenly Father wanted for me. I met with the Bishop and sent in my papers. I served for an amazing 18 months in The CHILE SANTIAGO WEST MISSION. When I got home he had married and moved on with his life. I went on met and married a wonderful guy that loved me and was willing to honor his priesthood.

We need to remember that although it may seem right I mean after 7 years who would have thought we would end up with someone else and be happy! But when we do our Father in Heavens will we are blessed we may not see the blessings when make that decision that is so hard. But there are many blessings that come if we listening and follow the direction we are given!

Our Purpose In Life Handout FREEBIE

This week the handouts go with Young Women Manual 3 lesson 7, "Our Purpose In Life" It is made with Steadfast and Immovable's Kit Divine Nature found here.

Sometimes our lives get difficult and we need some direction one of the blessings that we have as members of the church is asking for a blessing. We can ask any worthy priesthood holder such as our fathers, home teachers and even your neighbor. The Lord may inspire these priesthood holders to speak words of guidance and comfort.

As worthy members of the Church, we are each entitled to a patriarchal blessing that is given from the Lord to us individually. When we receive a patriarchal blessing, we are told many of the blessings Heavenly Father has in store for us in this life and in eternity. These blessings will be ours if we live true and faithful lives. Patriarchal blessings often identify our spiritual gifts. Knowing these gifts can help us determine our purpose in life. (See D&C 46:10–12.) We are sometimes warned to avoid certain evil influences that our Father knows will tempt us. By knowing the promised blessings, our spiritual gifts, and the warnings, we can more wisely make decisions throughout our lives. A patriarchal blessing is one of the best ways to under stand your purpose here. It will contain many insights to your and your Heavenly Father's plan for you!

This weeks YW handout freebie is from the Young Women Manual 3 Lesson 4 lesson "Preparing to Become an Eternal Companion".  The lesson talks about the importance of learning to turn to God and the principles of the gospel you have learned. President Spencer W. Kimball said: “Young women should plan and prepare for marriage and the bearing and rearing of children. It is your divine right and the avenue to the greatest and most supreme happiness” (Ensign, Nov. 1978, p. 103).

President Kimball also counciled President Spencer W. Kimball said: “I tell young women … that they should do all in their power to make themselves attractive physically in dress and grooming, mentally in being knowledgeable on many subjects, spiritually in being responsive, emotionally in being genuine and worthy” (“Marriage Is Honorable,” in Speeches of the Year, 1973 [Provo: Brigham Young University Press, 1974], pp. 261–62).

I think the hardest thing about being a grown up is realizing that life is not like the shows you watch on TV life is not perfect things don't always work out perfectly or sometimes not even like you thought they would. That is why this lesson is so important to remind us that when life is not "perfect" you can turn to your Father in Heaven and he will guide you through the hard times. He will give you the answers you need to make your life the best it can be!  Council with Him all your decisions big or small and accept His answers.
