Young Women Manual 3 Lesson 38: Good Health Habits

“The Word of Wisdom, section 89 of the Doctrine and Covenants, remains as to terms and specifications as found in that section. There has been no official interpretation of that Word of Wisdom except that which was given by the Brethren in the very early days of the Church when it was declared that ‘hot drinks’ meant tea and coffee.
“With reference to cola drinks, the Church has never officially taken a position on this matter, but the leaders of the Church have advised, and we do now specifically advise, against the use of any drink containing harmful habit-forming drugs under circumstances that would result in acquiring the habit. Any beverage that contains ingredients harmful to the body should be avoided” (“Policies and Procedures,” New Era, May 1972, p. 50).
“The condition of the physical body can affect the spirit. That’s why the Lord gave us the Word of Wisdom. He also said that we should retire to our beds early and arise early (see D&C 88:124), that we should not run faster than we have strength (see D&C 10:4), and that we should use moderation in all good things. In general, the more food we eat in its natural state and the less it is refined without additives, the healthier it will be for us. Food can affect the mind, and deficiencies in certain elements in the body can promote mental depression. A good physical examination periodically is a safeguard and may spot problems that can be remedied. Rest and physical exercise are essential, and a walk in the fresh air can refresh the spirit. Wholesome recreation is part of our religion, and a change of pace is necessary, and even its anticipation can lift the spirit” (Ezra Taft Benson, in Conference Report, Oct. 1974, pp. 91–92; or Ensign, Nov. 1974, p. 66).

Young Women's Freebie~Manual 3 Lesson 2 Coming to know The Savior

This weeks Young Woman handout is for Manual 3 Lesson 2 "Coming to know The Savior" you can download the hand out here. In this lesson it suggests showing the picture of Jesus knock on the door and asking what is unusual about the picture? The answer is the door knob is missing. This picture shows us that it is up to us to open the door and let The Savior in. We need to invite him into our lives. How many of you have opened the door to let Our Savior into your life?

The hand out was created using Fit as a Fiddle.

Fit As A Fiddle

Hi Everyone!

I'm happy to announce the release of my newest kit. These were inspired by a set of recent Young Women lessons regarding health and preventing disease. I had been wanting to create a kit regarding keeping fit and that helped propel me into actually making it. Every spring and fall I always seem to be renewed in my quest for getting fit. Then, the heat of the summer and the bombardment of holidays during the winter seem to get in the way. Maybe this year will be different! :)

This fun kit is all about being fit and exercising. It comes with various fitness related elements as well as labels describing common fitness words and weight-loss pound markers ranging from 5 all the way up to 100. In total, this kit comes with 26 individual elements (62 total after duplications), 27 papers (solid one's not shown in additional paper preview), and 1 alpha with full upper, lower case, numbers and some symbols.

The Word Art was so much fun to make. It comes with six, 300 dpi, PNG Word Art that contains shadows only in the overlapping areas.

The quick pages come in two different sizes - each come with four, 300 dpi, PNG quick pages. One set is 12x12 and the other is letter-sized (8-1/2x11).

You can find all of these kits at Scrap It Sassy and Faith Sisters.

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon :)
