Developing Talents Handout FREEBIE

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by. I hope you're having a terrific week. I am. I've finally finished a great big project and it's a load off of my back! Now it's time to start a new one :) Today I have for you the Young Women Manual 2 Less 44 about Developing Talents handout freebie. This is a great lesson. What I love about talents is that talents are not restricted things like music or the arts. One can have a talent in speaking, teaching, listening, learning, wisdom, befriending people, remembering names, and so on. Furthermore, we are not limited to only one talent; we can have multiple talents. We can play the piano AND be a great teacher. It can be so easy to think that the piano player has only one talent. I use that example because I play the piano at church and I know that I am sometimes overlooked for other opportunities because I already play the piano. To me, playing the piano at church is as expected as doing my visiting teaching. We are supposed to be always seeking, praying for, developing, and sharing our talents (plural - not singular:).

I made this handout using my Our Home kit. There really wasn't any quotes in this lesson, which I found odd. I really wish there was some great quotes about developing talents. I thought I remembered in a RS Lesson (I think the year we studied Joseph Smith) there being a lesson dedicated to talents and listed so very many of them. Maybe you can leave a comment with any great quotes you know of about developing our talents. For the handout I choose the scripture references and the process of finding and developing our talents. You can download the complete set (4x6, postcard, and one pdf with 4 postcards per page) here.

See you soon :)

  2. "You may think you don't have talents, but that is a false assumption, for we all have talents and gifts, everyone of us. The bounds of creativity extend far beyond the limits of a canvas or a sheet of paper and do not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Creation means bringing into existence something that did not exist before - colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter." -Elder Uchtdorf.

"Seek ye earnestly to discover the talents the Lord has given you. Use your talents to build up the kingdom of God. Acknowledge God's hand in all your success." -- not sure who said this??

  4. "To have passion, to have a dream, to have a purpose in life. And there are three components to that purpose, one is to find out who you really are, to discover God, the second is to serve other human beings, because we are here to do that and the third is to express your unique talents and when you are expressing your unique talents you lose track of time." ~Deepra Chopra

  5. In the Aug. 2003 Ensign there was an article called "Parables of Jesus: The Parable of the Talents" by Elder Ronald A. Rasband.

It has some really good quotes. I am working quite a few of them into my lesson.

    Thanks for the handouts
