Resisting Sin

I Would like to thank Russian-Dutch Heart Design for her Set Sail kit I used to make this YW handout. (Scroll almost to the end of the post - past all the links she provides - to find the kit.)

I was released as YW President two weeks ago. That is why I was trying to get ahead with the handouts. I'm still making them because I absolutely love to do so.

I've made an important decisions with my life, too. I've been seriously contemplating for almost a year what I want to be when I grow up. Since I'm 36 I thought it would be time to get serious about it. I've contemplated psychology and family therapy, both I would be good. I entertained some sort of medical field or business administration. I wouldn't be happy with the medical field and the MBA isn't going to be my cup of lemonade.

Funny thing, though, is that with every decision I made I was concerned if whether or not I would have time to make things. I love to sit down and make these handouts and throughout the years I've enjoyed making a half a dozen websites, four years worth of newsletters for Relief Society, and almost a year's worth of Food Storage Newsletters. With the end of each project I am always anxious to look for my next project. I have many ideas and would love to make them a reality. I finally solidified my decision to get into graphic/digital design. I had considered it a few times before, but crossed it off the list because I want to do something where my life and skills makes a difference in like helping people. This is why I had contemplated the medical field, an MBA, or even family therapy. On further thought, I believe I could still be useful with design.

My passion is with making things and I'm sure there would be a way for me to make a difference. The ideal way would be to through the Church working with their magazines. Either way, I wouldn't have to worry about not being able to make things because it would be my vocation, as well as provide me with the skills to do make a reality all the ideas that run through my head, but lack the skill. So, I think that I finally have decided what to be when I grow up. I may have to start before I grow up, though, 'cause I'm not sure how long that will take. LOL!

The Young Women Manual 1 Lesson 28 is about Resisting Sin. Being prepared ahead of time is half the battle with resisting sin. I'm glad this lesson is being taught.

I've also started saving my digital design freebies differently. Now I save them with the designers name of website or blog, even if I have to open their TOU to find it, then the name of the item(s) I downloaded. That does a few things. It places in order all the items that they make together, even when I divide them by paper, type of element, frame, etc, and gives me the information I need to credit them when I use their products.
